Fur Babymoon Part 1

So you know all those pregger couples who go on a babymoon as their last hoorah together before they REALLY become sleepless parents for the rest of their lives? Well... I've been feeling kinda left out in all that, so the boy and I decided that it was high time we join the club, but with our own unique twist. Enter FUR babymoon. Yup. You heard that right. Fur babymoon. I mean, why not?? I won't be getting any sleep the first couple of weeks and I'll be stuck to the hip with this pup trying to potty train it and teaching it to do fun little tricks! I don't know about you, but sounds like parenting to me! Minus the asshole teenager phase, thank goodness. Instead, that will be replaced with cutesy puppy face that'll be happy to see me every waking moment of the day!

Where did we decide to go?? To NYC, baby!! After nearly 3 years of being with a Googler, I FINALLY got the chance to take advantage of its perks. My spring break and his business trip coincided, so we decided, why the heck not?! This would have been my first time going as an adult, so you can only imagine how stoked I was!

The boy booked us a glitzy boutique hotel in the swanky Soho called Mondrian. HIGHLY recommended. The service is absolute horse crap, but the place will undoubtedly make a nobody feel like a somebody. I felt pretty damn pimp every time I stepped foot in the hotel! Oh and did I mention how HOT the waiters were?! Yes, they are. It is a requirement to get hired at the Mondrian. I wish I had taken photos, but for now, my memory of the eye candy will have to do.
Entrance to the magical land of Alice in Wonderland. Please ignore the luggage cart. I meant to take a better one before we left, but I always kept forgetting. :(
Isola - the restaurant where you can have eye candy AND fill your belly with noms every morning. I'm not a morning person, but man! This place made me happy every. single. morning.

Isola at night. Feeling like a somebody yet??
Where ghetto meets chic.

After going up 17 floors, this is what greeted us:

That would be the view from the door of our room. We had floor to ceiling windows that, according to the boy, overlooked the "real" NYC. He loved the rawness of it all. Me? I was hoping for the view of the Empire State Building, but I guess this had to do. :P Spoiled much? Why yes. Yes, I am.

When booking our room, I thought how bada$$ it would be if we had a huge window in our shower, overlooking all of NYC while dancing in our birthday suits every morning. Reality hit me the first morning when I realized that all of NYC would well... have a full frontal view of me dancing in my birthday suit. I am sorry. Really, truly sorry. But serves you right for being a Peeping Tom. Pervert.

Ahhhh. The view from our bed. No words can describe the feeling of waking up to this view every morning and walking in at night, seeing the whole city lit up, bidding us a good night. Absolutely stunning.

After ooohing and ahhing and jumping for joy for finally being here, we got ready to hit the town! The boy took me out on a quaint date to epistrophy.

A perfect first NY date night! :)

Of course the food was very yummy, but more so than that, it made me super happy to be here in this bustling city with my boy. He's told me countless stories of his life here in this city, but it evoked a different feeling inside hearing it while actually physically BEING in the city. It was different. Like I was somehow really connecting with his past life here. Weird I know...

After some relaxing, he wanted to take me to his old stomping grounds. He desperately tried to teach me how to ride the subway. Tried being the operative word there. Haha. But even he had trouble getting back into the NY groove. He promised one train ride and 3 blocks of walking, but of course that was all a rouge to get me to walk. For those that know me, you can only imagine how my insides were starting to get fired up, ready to eat his face.

To distract me, he showed me the New York Stock Exchange. And boy did it work because I was pretty damn impressed by this building. I'm not much of a numbers kind of gal - in fact, numbers and I are never on good terms - but seeing this sent chills down my spine. It was sexy as hell. I loved the beautiful intricate architecture and the power it commanded. You can almost feel the history ooze out of its cracks. I so loved the old-timey feel many of the building in the Financial District had. I want to travel way back in time to see the city filled with classy men dressed to the nines in their business suits, briefcase, complete with a hat. Drool worthy. Can we bring THAT kind of sexy back please??

After another "3 more blocks baby!" promise, I grudgingly followed along. Before another distraction came into view. We saw the Freedom Tower from Water Street. It was a magnificent building shining brightest amongst all the other buildings. For me, it commanded a different kind of power than the NYSE. It felt like it had a civic duty to tell the world that nothing will break them as a city, and us as a country. The boy and I both intended to see it sometime during the trip, but couldn't find the time, so it actually turned out to be a good thing that we caught it on our way to Battery Park.

After what felt like an eternity, we finally got to Battery Park overlooking New Jersey. I won't lie that I wasn't winded and kinda cranky, but I couldn't deny the beauty. This is where the boy spent a lot of time doing his deep-thinking thing. I don't blame him. I don't think you can find a better place to dust off the daily stresses of corporate life. The sight was beautiful and I felt at peace.  The water, the city lights, and the sunset. Sigh...

New Jersey Skyline
We were both on CA time, and against our better judgement, we decided to cap off our night in Time Square! Yes, yes, it's a really touristy place to go, but, c'mon! No NY trip would be complete without a trip there. I've been to Seoul and they are known to have flashy neon lights EVERYWHERE, but Time Square definitely put it to shame. Man... I couldn't stop looking! At every turn, there was something big and bright flashing in my face. Until I heard "HOT NUTS!". Whatever hot nuts was, I knew I had to have some. Verdict?? Wow. Just... wow. Crack for my eyes, and crack for my mouth. I was in raccoon heaven. It was also during this walk that I had my first NY hotdog. Eh... *shrug* It was over-rated.

As our first day in NY together, I think we both did pretty well considering being up since 4 AM! Lots of walking and definitely too much eating! Until tomorrow NY!! :)
